Helping You Face the Seasons with Clarity
We are a small educational organisation in Chiang Mai, dedicated to helping people in midlife and beyond feel steadier about their financial futures.
← Back to HomeWhere Charoen Path Began
Charoen Path came together in Chiang Mai in 2018, born from a simple observation: many people entering their forties and fifties had never had the chance to sit quietly and learn about money without someone trying to sell them something. Courses tended to be either dense and technical, or attached to a financial product. Nothing existed for the curious, thoughtful person who simply wanted to understand.
The name — Charoen Path — reflects a belief in slow, steady progress along a well-prepared road. In Thai, "charoen" carries the sense of growing and flourishing over time. That is the spirit behind everything we do. We are not about shortcuts or formulas. We are about equipping you, gently, to make more informed decisions at a meaningful stage of life.
Our programmes are deliberately small and unhurried. We work with groups of between six and ten participants, usually over several weeks, covering topics ranging from everyday Thai banking to longer-term planning for retirement and family wellbeing. Printed guides, worksheets, and planning notebooks are part of every programme — something to hold, mark up, and keep.
We are not licensed financial advisers and we do not sell financial products. Our role is educational: to help you understand the landscape clearly so that when you do speak with a professional, you feel prepared and confident to ask the right questions.
Our Mission
To offer calm, clear, and practical financial education to people in midlife — helping them feel more prepared and less anxious about the seasons of life ahead.
Our Vision
A Chiang Mai where anyone, regardless of background, can access thoughtful financial education and approach their later years with greater steadiness and confidence.
Our Values
Patience, transparency, and respect. We never rush learners, never attach conditions to our teaching, and always encourage seeking professional advice for personal financial decisions.
Who You'll Learn With
Our small team brings backgrounds in adult education, Thai personal finance, and community facilitation.
Siriporn Nakbun
Lead Facilitator
Siriporn spent twelve years in Thai retail banking before turning to adult education. She leads our introductory and intermediate programmes with warmth and patience.
Krit Thongchai
Programme Designer
Krit holds a background in curriculum development and has designed all three Charoen Path programmes to be unhurried, practical, and easy to return to over time.
Anchalee Wongpan
Participant Support
Anchalee handles enrolment, materials, and ongoing support for participants. She is the first person you'll hear from when you reach out, and always happy to answer questions.
Our Educational Standards
Everything we do is guided by principles that keep learning calm, honest, and useful.
Impartiality
We have no commercial relationships with banks, funds, or financial product providers. Our teaching is free from product bias of any kind.
Adult Learning Principles
Our programmes follow established adult education frameworks, respecting learners' life experience and keeping sessions practical and relevant.
Privacy & Discretion
Participant information is held confidentially and never shared with third parties. What you discuss in sessions stays within the group.
Regular Content Review
All course materials are reviewed annually to reflect changes in Thai banking regulations, tax rules, and retirement-related legislation.
Participant Feedback
Every programme ends with a structured feedback session. We use participant responses to improve the next cohort — nothing is set in stone.
Clear Scope of Teaching
We are transparent about what we do and do not cover. We always recommend participants consult a licensed financial adviser before making personal financial decisions.
Financial Education for Midlife in Thailand
Chiang Mai is home to a growing community of people — both Thai nationals and long-term residents from abroad — who are navigating the financial questions that tend to arrive in the forties and fifties. Questions about how much to set aside, how Thai savings accounts and fixed deposits actually work, what the Social Security Fund covers, and how to begin thinking about the years after working life ends.
Charoen Path was built for this community. Our courses draw on the specific context of living and planning financially in Thailand: the banking system, the currency, the tax environment, and the healthcare options available here. We do not use overseas case studies or examples drawn from foreign financial systems. Everything is rooted in the Thai experience.
Over the years, participants have come to us from careers in teaching, healthcare, trade, and small business. They bring different levels of familiarity with financial topics, and different amounts of time. What they share is a desire to feel more prepared — not to become experts, but to feel less uncertain. That is what our courses are designed to offer: a steady, well-structured path through the information that matters most at this stage of life.
We remain a small operation by design. We believe that learning about money — particularly at a time when the decisions feel more significant — works best in a calm, unhurried setting with people who can ask questions freely and receive thoughtful answers.
